About this spot

A man-made lake in the Ijira area of Yamagata City, known for its quiet scenery surrounded by mountains. It's also known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and a promenade is maintained along the lakeshore, so you can take a relaxed stroll while gazing at the water. In summer, it's surrounded by lush greenery, and spending time in the cool air is another nice touch. Leave the bustle of the city behind and enjoy a relaxed time with your family.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from the roadside station Ijira. The promenade has some uneven sections, so comfortable, walkable shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. The calm afternoon view of the lake surface is especially recommended
