Kando Weir (神戸堰)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A weir set along the lower reaches of the Kando River, drawing irrigation water to the surrounding fields from both banks. The Kando River originates at Mt. Megame in Iinan-cho and flows through Izumo City into the Sea of Japan. The embankment around the weir is the very venue for tonight's fireworks display, and a pleasant river breeze blows through in the evening. As the sun sets, the embankment fills up with viewers, so securing a spot at this time makes for a worry-free evening.

Tips

A drivable distance from Izumo Yume Town. It's recommended to pick up food beforehand. The embankment gets dark underfoot at night, so bring a flashlight or a phone light.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 30 minutes needed. The changing colors of the river's surface around sunset are a highlight
