About this spot

This is the Setogashima area of Hamada Fishing Port, which boasts the largest catch volume in Shimane Prefecture. Hamada Fishing Port is the only Category 3 specified fishing port in the prefecture, serving as a base for offshore trawl fishing and medium-scale purse seine fishing on a scale among the largest in western Japan, with fish-processing complexes spread around it. The Setogashima area and the Harai area on the opposite shore are connected by the 615-meter Hamada Marine Bridge. The fireworks are launched with this fishing port as their stage. During this time spent having dinner while you wait, anticipation builds as the fishing port is dyed in the colors of the sunset while the sun sinks lower.

Tips

The area gets crowded from the evening onward on the day of the summer festival. It's recommended to get your food and drinks early. Be careful, as it can get dark underfoot around the port.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. Dusk at the fishing port is the liveliest time of the day.
