About this spot

One of Japan's oldest functioning movable bridges, spanning the Hijikawa River where it meets the Seto Inland Sea. The bridge's central section rises to allow ships to pass, and its distinctive red iron framework has earned it the affectionate nickname 'red bridge' (akahashi). This bridge, which inspired the festival's name, offers views of the calm scenery where the river meets the sea from its base, allowing you to experience the port-town atmosphere as the sun sets.

2026年8月1日(土)20時から、肱川の河口に広がる長浜港湾緑地で開催されるながはま赤橋夏まつりの花火大会です。約1,800発の花火が赤い可動橋と川面を彩り、港町ならではの穏やかな水辺の景色とともに楽しめます。大洲城や臥龍山荘で伊予の小京都の魅力にふれたあとのフィナーレとして、家族で夜空を見上げる特別な30分間になるはずです。

Tips

荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の実施状況は大洲市の公式発表で確認しましょう。会場周辺は夕方から混み合うため、早めの場所取りがおすすめです。終了後は橋周辺の道路が混雑するため、時間差での帰宅が安心です。

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Pokopen Yokocho, in the Nagahama district. The bridge occasionally raises at set times, so if you're lucky, you may witness this rare spectacle. Note that roads in the area are narrow, so drive carefully.
