About this spot
Known as an ancient temple with connections to Kobo Daishi, this is one of Sado's representative temples. Surrounded by giant cedar trees, the grounds are dotted with historic halls wrapped in a quiet and sacred atmosphere. Located in one of the most verdant areas of the island, you can walk leisurely through cool tree shade during summer. This place offers a calm side of Sado different from the port town.

2026年8月1日(土)、佐渡島の静かな漁港・赤泊港一帯で開催される赤泊港まつりの花火打ち上げです。約200発とこぢんまりとした規模ながら、都会の花火大会とはひと味違う、港と星空が近く感じられる素朴で温かみのある雰囲気を楽しめます。港町散策や古刹めぐり、浜辺でのひとときを過ごしたあとのフィナーレとして、家族で夜空を見上げるゆったりとした時間になるはずです。

荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の実施状況は佐渡市の公式発表で確認しましょう。開催時間が確定次第、余裕を持って会場に到着しておくと安心です。港周辺は街灯が少ないため、懐中電灯があると足元が安心です。
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Akadomari Port. The grounds have stone steps and slopes, so comfortable shoes are recommended. With plenty of shade, it remains relatively cool even in summer.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The late afternoon with dappled sunlight is especially recommended.
