Viewing just three fireworks 'White Chrysanthemum' launched as a memorial to air raid victims
About this spot
On August 1st (Saturday), 2026, 'White Chrysanthemum' fireworks light up the night sky on the eve of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival. Rather than the standard three-shaku tamaya fireworks, only three fireworks are launched quietly with prayers for consolation and peace for those who perished in the August 1st, 1945 air raid on Nagaoka. There is no flashiness, but in that restraint, you can feel the deeper meaning embedded in each firework—a special moment. Different from the lively main festival beginning the next day, these fireworks for consolation have long been treasured by the people of Nagaoka.
