About this spot

This historic site park is located in Shidaihama, Seiro, and was developed from the sacred grove of Hie Shrine (日枝神社), which is designated as a town cultural property. Covering about 2.2 hectares, it is dominated by deciduous broadleaf forest centered on Abemaki oak, and has been designated a Green Space Environmental Conservation Area by Niigata Prefecture. The shrine was formerly called Sannō Gongen (山王権現), and was renamed Hie Shrine in the Meiji era. Even in summer, the sunlight is softened beneath the trees, making it a perfect cool resting spot to take a breather after swimming in the sea.

Tips

It is convenient to travel by car from Ajirohama Beach. Since you will walk among the trees within the park, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The shade of the trees is perfect for a break during the hot afternoon hours.
