About this spot

A restaurant on Lake Ashi's Motohakone Bay, just before Hakone Shrine. It can seat 200-300 guests across its first and second floors, and the second-floor seats offer views of Lake Ashi while you eat. Its specialty is wakasagi (pond smelt), which you fry yourself at the table. As the sun sets behind the mountains, the color of the lake surface shifts moment by moment. After your meal, secure a spot on the lakeshore for tonight's fireworks.

Tips

The lakeshore and surrounding roads get very crowded from evening onward on the day of the fireworks display. It's best to pick up food and drinks early. Since the elevation is high, it can get colder than expected at night.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. The changing colors of the sky around sunset make this a beautiful time by the lake.
