About this spot

This is the Wakasa Takahama Fireworks Festival, held from 20:00 on Saturday, August 1, 2026, along the Eastern Coast (東部海岸) stretching from Wakasa Wada Beach (若狭和田ビーチ) to Shiroyama Beach (城山海水浴場). About 3,500 fireworks light up the night sky over the beautiful coastline of Wakasa Bay (若狭湾) one after another, creating a dynamic display together with their reflection on the sea. As the finale to a day filled with swimming and scenic sightseeing, it should be a special 20 minutes of gazing up at the night sky with your family.

In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Sunday, August 2. Check the official announcement on the day for the latest status. The coastline stretches over a wide area, so it's a good idea to secure a good viewing spot early. Roads around the area get very congested afterward, so leaving with a time lag is a good idea for peace of mind.
