About this spot

This street faces Izuhara Port, the main gateway to Tsushima. Izuhara Port has long been known as a trading port with mainland China and the Korean Peninsula, and it was also where the official ships of the So clan, lords of the Tsushima Domain, docked. On the day of the port festival, many food stalls line the area, letting you enjoy local seafood while watching the port scenery as day turns to dusk. Since the fireworks start a little later, at 21:00, you can spend a relaxed evening soaking up the festival atmosphere.

Tips

Within walking distance of the Ofunae Historic Site. The area around the port gets very crowded on the day of the festival, so it's a good idea to stake out a spot early. Popular menu items at the food stalls can sell out, so get them early.

Best time to visit

About 4 hours needed. After sunset, the lanterns and food stall lights around the port add to the atmosphere
