About this spot

This is the grave of Yononushi, an aji (local lord) said to have ruled Okinoerabujima during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. The intricately stacked stone structure conveys the high level of skill of that time to this day. It's one of Wadomari's leading historic sites, where you can feel the depth of the island's history.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Wadomari Port. Viewing the site quietly is good manners. Summer sun is strong, so don't forget to stay hydrated.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. It's easiest to visit during the calm stretch from morning into early afternoon.
