This is a historic site remaining at Ameyashiki in Kamimyo, Aira-cho, Kanoya City. Beside an irrigation channel stands a 174-centimeter-tall stone Kannon statue bearing an inscription dated to the 6th year of Kyoho (1721), known as a representative example of the Kannon statues passed down within Aira-cho. It's a stone statue that survived the anti-Buddhist movement (haibutsu kishaku) of the early Meiji era, remaining intact in its complete form. Following the quiet time at Airasanjoryo, take a relaxed walk with your family, reflecting on the history layered into this land.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Airasanjoryo. The sunlight is strong in summer, so don't forget a hat, sun protection, and to stay hydrated. There are some uneven steps along the stone walls, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
