About this spot

This roughly 96-hectare green space spreads along the riverbank of the Ishikari River. As its nickname Aviation Park suggests, it is home to Takikawa Sky Park, Japan's first full-scale aviation park combining the functions of a park and an airfield. With a glider landing field, swings, a slide, and a rest area, it's a place where you can spend time looking up at the sky. In the evening, people begin to gather for the fireworks festival, and the sound of bon dance drums can be heard. Spread out your takeout dinner, cool off, and wait for the show to begin.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Michi-no-Eki Takikawa. Roads in the area get crowded from evening on the day of the event, so it's recommended to head over early. Checking the restroom locations while it's still light will give you peace of mind at night too.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour and 15 minutes needed. Around sunset, the riverside is cool and a pleasant time to be there.
