About this spot

This museum displays numerous valuable fossil specimens, including the full skeleton of Desmostylus, an ancient marine mammal excavated in Ashoro Town. Though compact, the museum is well worth seeing, and the exhibits that let you sense this land was once sea long ago captivate adults as much as children. It's a moment to touch the vast span of time carved into Ashoro's land before the fireworks at night.

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Michi-no-Eki Ashoro Ginga Hall 21. The exhibit explanation panels are detailed, so it's recommended to allow plenty of time for your visit. During summer vacation, it can get crowded with families.
