This fireworks festival, held at the vast Iwamizawa Park, is talked about for its display of light and sound effects. From 8:00 PM, about 7,000 fireworks color the night sky over roughly 20 minutes, and the biggest appeal is being able to look up at the fireworks with nothing blocking the view from the open lawn plaza. In the relaxed, spacious setting unique to the park, families can enjoy the fireworks together.

Tips

Viewing the fireworks requires admission to Hokkaido Greenland (admission tickets: 2,000 yen for adults (high school age and up), 1,200 yen for children (ages 3 to junior high school); all-day parking is 1,000 yen). In bad weather, the event is postponed to Sunday, August 23, so check the organizer's official announcement on the day. Exiting the parking lot gets crowded after the event ends, so it's recommended to enjoy the lingering atmosphere for a bit before heading home.
