About this spot

This town-run sports park spreads along the riverbank of the Toshibetsu River, featuring a lawn plaza, a multi-purpose plaza, a ball-game field, and a track-and-field ground with an eight-lane, 400-meter track. It closes during the snowy season and is used as a sports venue for townspeople from spring through autumn. The East Tokachi Fireworks Festival is held at the special venue on this riverbank, and as evening approaches, people gradually begin to gather for the festival. Spread out your takeout dinner, cool off, and soak in the atmosphere of this local festival, now marking its 30th edition.

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from the shopping street. Sunsets come early in September and nights turn chilly, so don't forget to bring something to layer on.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour and 15 minutes needed. Around sunset, the riverside is at its most pleasant.
