About this spot

This community-rooted shopping street spreads out right outside Hanno Station (飯能駅) on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Lined with old-fashioned diners, bakeries, and Japanese confectionery shops, it is perfect for a meal before heading into the mountains. Hanno is also known as a production area for a type of lumber called Nishikawa timber (西川材), and shops that convey the warmth of wood are scattered throughout. Since mountain spots continue after this, it is reassuring to stock up on plenty of drinks and snacks here.

Tips

Right by the north exit of Hanno Station (飯能駅). There are almost no shops around Takedera, so stock up on drinks and snacks here. There are also coin lockers in front of the station, so it is a good idea to lighten your load before setting off.

About 1 hour needed. The hours before midday are relatively calm
