Held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, this is the climax of the 41st Yufuin Basin Fireworks Festival (第41回ゆふいん盆地花火), set at the Miyagawa riverside (宮川河畔). As evening approaches, the riverside starts to fill with people waiting for the launch, so spread out a leisure sheet to secure a spot and fill up on light food from stalls or a bento you brought while waiting for the show to begin. Because the venue lies in a basin surrounded by mountains including Mt. Yufu (由布岳), the sound of the launches echoes off the mountainsides, giving a body-shaking impact unique to this festival. Another highlight is the emotive Yufuin-style scenery where the night view of the hot spring town overlaps with the fireworks.
