About this spot

Miyagawa Takinokuchi (宮川滝の口) is a spring located on the grounds of Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine (若宮八幡社), about a 10-minute walk from Yufuin Station. Clear water wells up from between the rocks on the west side of the shrine, and it was selected in 1988 as one of Oita Prefecture's 15 Famous Waters of Toyo no Kuni (豊の国名水15選). This water has long been used for agriculture and daily life, supporting the local community. Feel the cool of the spring water in the quiet shrine grounds and take a breather ahead of the night of fireworks.

Tips

Accessible on foot or by car from Lake Kinrin (金鱗湖). Roads in the area get congested on the day of the fireworks festival, so using public transportation or arriving early is recommended. It is reassuring to stock up on food and drink at Yunotsubo Street (湯の坪街道) beforehand.
