About this spot

This is a residents' organization for the Fukami district, based at the Usa City Regional Exchange Station (宇佐市地域交流ステーション), which opened in 2013 after renovating the former Fukami Junior High School. The former school building still has training rooms, a cooking practice room, and lodging rooms, and also houses a satellite lab of Oita University, making it a hub where local residents and students come together. The surrounding area is a peaceful rural district spread across the mountains. Walking along the river and streets here during the day ahead of the basin festival fireworks makes it easier to picture where to secure a spot in the evening.

Tips

About 5 minutes by car from Tsumagaki Shrine. When the sun is strong, take breaks in the shade as you walk. It's a good idea to bring drinks with you in advance.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour needed. In the late afternoon the sunlight softens, making it easier to stroll.
