About this spot

This venerable Sōtō Zen temple is lined with an avenue of toga (Japanese hemlock) trees said to be several hundred years old and designated a prefectural natural monument. The quiet grounds, surrounded by trees, stay cool even in summer, and simply walking the approach path brings a refreshing feeling. With a historic main hall as well, it is the perfect place to spend a relaxed moment before the lively festival.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from the shopping street in front of Kamiichi Station. The grounds are rich in nature, so insect repellent is recommended. Closing time approaches in the evening, so visit early.
