This fireworks festival, held Saturday, August 8, 2026, colors summer in Shuto-cho, Iwakuni City. At the venue on the Shimada River riverbed around Takamori Tenmangu Shrine, fireworks launch into the night sky from 7:45pm to a scheduled 8:45pm. Admission is free, and the number of shells is not announced, but the fireworks viewed up close from the riverside are powerful. It is a splendid moment fitting to close out a day in Iwakuni that began with a tour of the bridge and castle town.
