Take in the Vast Karst Plateau with Scattered White Limestone

Japan's largest-scale karst plateau designated as a Special National Natural Monument. The landscape of white limestone scattered like a flock of sheep across expansive grassland is exceptionally rare in scale for Japan. From the observation deck you can see the entire plateau, and walking the trails allows close observation of the limestone formations. Combined with the underground world seen in Akiyoshi Cave, you can experience the natural mysteries of both above and below ground.

2026年9月5日(土)開催、秋吉台の観光まつりを締めくくる花火大会です。日本最大級のカルスト台地を舞台に、遮るもののない広い夜空へ花火が打ち上がります。打ち上げ数は公表されていませんが、草原の開けた地形ならではのスケール感で、都会の花火大会とはひと味違う迫力を楽しめます。鍾乳洞や草原散策の余韻とともに、夜のひとときを味わいましょう。

Tips

荒天時は中止や延期の可能性があるため、当日は主催者の発表を確認しましょう。9月とはいえ夜の台地は涼しく感じることがあるので羽織ものを忘れずに。終了後は駐車場が混み合うため、時間に余裕を持って移動を。

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Akiyoshi Cave. Wear comfortable walking shoes for the trail to the observation deck. In summer, shade is limited, so bring a hat and sun protection.
