This is a historic townscape that flourished during the Edo period as an important riverbank for Mogami River boat transport. The streets, which still retain the atmosphere of the riverbank where boats once carried safflower and rice, are dotted with storehouse-style buildings and old merchant houses, letting you feel the weight of history amid a quiet moment. Getting a sense of Oishida's history alongside the Mogami River during the day connects the story of the whole day, in anticipation of the evening's fireworks.

Tips

Within walking distance of Oishida Station. The sun is strong in summer, so a hat or parasol is reassuring. The streets are also used as everyday roads by residents, so please stroll quietly and be considerate of local residents.

About 1 hour needed. Morning to midday, before the sun gets too strong, is the easiest time to walk around
