This community hub in front of Oishida Station opened in August 2017, renovated from a traditional storehouse that once symbolized the town's prosperity from Mogami River boat transport. Inside, there's a rest space and hand-drip coffee, along with tourist information both in and outside the town, free luggage storage, rental boxes for displaying handmade works, and free Wi-Fi. It makes a perfect starting point for exploring Oishida, known as a soba-noodle town, and a good time to build excitement ahead of the festival.
Tips
About 10 minutes on foot from the Mogami River Art Museum (最上川美術館). Soba restaurants can get crowded around lunchtime, so shifting your timing a little lets you enjoy a more relaxed visit.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes needed. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens a little, is an easier time to walk around
