This is a historic townscape that flourished as a post town on the Nakasendo highway during the Edo period. In this quiet mountain hamlet, remnants of the old honjin (main inn) site and old houses that retain the atmosphere of the era are scattered about, letting you feel the air of the time when travelers passed through. Before the lively Tanabata festival, this is the perfect spot to spend a relaxed moment on a quiet historical stroll.
