About this spot
Gujo Hachiman is known as a "water town," and clear irrigation canals still run throughout the craftsmen's and blacksmith's districts. Stone-paved alleyways are lined with traditional merchant houses, and you can simply enjoy the historic atmosphere with latticed doors and water basins (water areas utilizing spring water). There's an abundance of street food to sample, such as Hida beef skewers, sweetfish dishes, and local Japanese sweets. As the birthplace of Gujo Odori, you can also sense the festival atmosphere. On the fireworks festival day, the entire town is lively, so this is the perfect time to stroll leisurely.

2026年8月14日(金)開催、郡上八幡の夏を彩る花火大会です。長良川の川面を舞台に、約1,000発の花火が山あいの夜空を彩ります。周囲を山に囲まれた地形のため、打ち上げの音が反響して迫力ある響きになるのもこの大会ならではの魅力です。郡上おどりで知られる祭りの町らしく、地元の人々の熱気に包まれながら見上げる花火は格別の思い出になります。

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表で確認しましょう。終了後は駅や駐車場までの道が混み合うため、少し余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗いのでスマホのライトなどを用意すると安心です。

It's about a 15-minute walk from Gujo Hachiman Castle. The paths along the irrigation canals are narrow in places, so if you're traveling with small children, hold hands as you walk. Food stalls get crowded in the evening, so it's safer to visit early.
