About this spot

The town center of the Nichihara district, close to the fireworks venue. As evening approaches, food stalls for the ayu festival line up, wrapping the area in a warm, mountain-village festival mood. Finish your pre-fireworks meal with stall food or takeout dinner while securing a good viewing spot. As the sun sets, the way the surrounding mountain ridgelines turn the color of sunset is also a highlight unique to this place.

Tips

A short walk or drive from the Takatsu River riverside. Roads in the area get congested from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival, so allow extra time to travel. Nights in this mountain village can get surprisingly cool, so it's reassuring to bring something to layer on.
