About this spot

A traditional Japanese restaurant on the banks of the Takatsu River in Nichihara, Tsuwano, and also a stage for the Nichihara Ayu Festival. Housed in a building with the charm of a former ryokan (inn) that once served meals, it sources only wild ayu caught in the main stream of the Takatsu River between Nichihara and Yokota. In season, you can enjoy a full ayu course, from fragrant thin-sliced sashimi (segoshi) to salt-grilled ayu and a finishing bowl of ayu rice. Reservations are required. Savor the ayu raised by this clear river and fully feel the local summer ahead of the fireworks festival.
