This community-rooted shopping street spreads out right outside Shinshiro Station on the JR Iida Line. Time-honored restaurants and Japanese confectionery shops line up, giving off a relaxed atmosphere perfect for the start of a trip. Since the area gets busier from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival, it's a good idea to walk around during the day first to get a feel for Shinshiro.
Tips
Right by JR Shinshiro Station. Restaurants can get crowded around lunchtime, so an earlier visit is recommended. You'll need a car to get to the Nagashino Castle Ruins afterward.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. It's relatively calm to walk around from morning through early afternoon.
