Stroll through the black fence-lined streets of the castle town retaining Edo-era charm

About this spot

A charming street lined with black fences remaining in the old castle town of Murakami City. Along the black fences revived by local volunteers, shops utilizing traditional merchant houses and small gardens are scattered about, allowing visitors to walk leisurely while feeling the echoes of the Edo period. Simply walking here creates a calm, castle town atmosphere, making it perfect for family strolls. On the first day of the fireworks festival, take your time to savor the townscape unique to Murakami.
