A charming street lined with black fences remaining in Murakami's former castle town. Along the black fences, restored by local volunteers, shops set in old townhouses and small gardens are dotted about, letting you take a leisurely walk while sensing the atmosphere of the Edo period. Just walking through evokes the calm ambiance typical of a castle town, making it a perfect street for a family stroll. Take your time savoring the townscape unique to Murakami at the very start of your fireworks-festival day.

Tips

About a 15-minute walk from JR Murakami Station; also convenient by car. In summer, some sections offer little shade, so a hat or parasol is reassuring to have.
