Enjoy the towering stone walls of Gagyuu-san and views of the castle town

About this spot

Castle ruins located at the summit of Gagyuu-san (Ox Lying Mountain) overlooking Murakami City, where the original stone walls still remain on the mountainside. Although no buildings remain, the mountain trail itself that winds around the stone walls is worth seeing, and from the summit you can view the Murakami castle town and the Japan Sea area. A perfect spot for a little family adventure, where you can feel the weight of history while getting some exercise.

清流として知られる荒川の河川敷を舞台に開催される、村上市の夏の風物詩です。打ち上げ数は公表されていませんが、川面に映り込む花火の光と、澄んだ夜空に広がる大輪の花火が織りなす景色は格別。鮭で知られる清流のほとりで見上げる花火は、村上の自然の豊かさを感じさせてくれます。城下町の歴史散策から一転、夜は川辺で花火を見上げる、1日の締めくくりにふさわしい時間になります。

Tips

会場周辺は当日大変混雑するため、早めに到着して場所を確保するのがおすすめです。荒天時は中止や順延の可能性があるため、当日は主催者の公式発表を確認しましょう。足元が暗いエリアもあるため、小さなライトがあると安心です。

Tips

Just a short walk or drive from Kurogane-dori. The mountain trail to the summit is a solid path requiring about 20 minutes of hiking, so wear comfortable shoes. Drink water regularly in the summer heat.
