About this spot

One of the Three Mountain Temples of Koto, this ancient temple is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku and carries a long history. Climb the stone-step approach path surrounded by greenery to reach the main hall, where you can also enjoy a view over the Koto plain. The main temple garden shows a different face each season, and in summer the lush green trees envelop the grounds. Wrapped in the quiet of a historic temple, start a leisurely summer day together as a family.

Tips

Accessible by car from central Higashiomi City. An admission fee applies, so check details in advance. The approach path includes stone steps and slopes, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Next, drive to Aito Margaret Station roadside station.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Late morning to early afternoon, while it is still cool, is a good time to visit.
