A waterside greenery area in the Takase district, which once prospered from shipping Takase rice, known for its irises that bloom in early summer. The stone-paved paths and rows of traditional merchant houses convey the charm of Takase as a commercial center since the Edo period. A walk through this area on an autumn evening, listening to the flow of the water, will be a pleasant experience before sunset.

2026年10月3日(土)開催、玉名の秋を彩る恒例の花火大会です。高瀬大橋上流付近（菊池川）から打ち上がる約10,000発の花火は、川幅の広い菊池川ならではの開放的な会場で、夜空いっぱいに大輪の花火が次々と広がります。川面に映り込む花火の光と、秋の澄んだ夜空とのコントラストは、この大会ならではの見ごたえです。フィナーレの連発が河川敷を明るく照らす瞬間は、1日の締めくくりにふさわしいクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路が大変混雑するため、フィナーレ後は河川敷で少し余韻を楽しんでからの時間差帰宅がおすすめです。10月の夜は冷えることがあるので羽織ものを。

Tips

Accessible by car from the Tamanji Municipal History Museum. The walk is free. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for the stone-paved paths. The next location, Takase Kura, is within walking distance.
