A green space along the canal remaining in the Takase area, once prosperous as a shipping point for Takase rice, known for its iris blooms in early summer. The townscape, with its stone-paved lanes and old townhouses lined up, still conveys the charm of Takase, a merchant town dating back to the Edo period. Strolling in the clear autumn air while listening to the sound of the canal's flowing water should be a pleasant time before evening.
Tips
Accessible by car from the Tamana City Museum of History. Strolling is free. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for the stone paving. Takase-gura is within walking distance next.
