About this spot

A renowned waterfall with a drop of approximately 30 meters that cascades into the Tetori Gorge carved by the Tetori River. Its name is said to derive from the delicate way it flows, like cotton drifting down. Following the boardwalk stairs, you can get close to the base of the waterfall, where the sheer rock walls and sound of rushing water create an impressive and powerful atmosphere well worth experiencing. As a finale to your shrine visits, this spot offers the purifying strength of nature.

Tips

The stairs down to the waterfall are steep and become slippery from mist and spray, so sturdy sneakers are essential—sandals are not recommended. Use the handrails and descend slowly. After heavy rain, water levels can rise significantly, so assess the conditions and never take unnecessary risks.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour required. In the afternoon, sunlight enters the gorge beautifully, making for great photography.
