A shrine situated on the banks of the Nakagawa River, revered as the head shrine of all Sumiyoshi Shrines nationwide and said to be the birthplace of the three Sumiyoshi deities. A legend remains that Empress Jingū enshrined the local deity here during her military campaign to the Three Kingdoms, deeply connecting this place to the region's history. The grounds are in a quiet environment along the river, and simply walking the tree-lined approach path soothes the soul. Before the summer festival, take a moment to touch the very beginning of Nakagawa City's history.

那珂川市を挙げての夏祭り「なかがわ市民の祭り」を締めくくる花火大会です。梶原運動広場・安徳南小学校運動場を会場に、約2,000発の花火が夜空を彩ります。地域に根づいたアットホームな雰囲気が魅力で、地元の家族連れが多く集まる温かなお祭りです。1日かけて歴史ある神社や古代の用水路を巡った締めくくりに、家族で夜空を見上げましょう。

Tips

荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日は那珂川市の公式発表で確認を。会場周辺の駐車場は台数が限られるため、早めの到着がおすすめです。終了後は周辺道路が混み合うため、しばらく余韻を楽しんでからの帰宅がスムーズです。

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from JR Hakata Minami Station (博多南駅). Admission to the shrine is free. The grounds are compact, making it easy to tour in a short time. It's about 10 minutes by car to the next stop, Saketa Gorge.
