The ruins of Nakoso Barrier (勿来関), one of the Three Barrier Gates of Oshu (奥州三関) celebrated in classical poetry since ancient times. Developed as an elevated park surrounded by pine groves, it features poetry stone monuments and a museum within the grounds, as well as beautiful sea views. A representative spot in southern Iwaki City where you can take a historical walk while enjoying the ocean breeze. Perfect for spending a leisurely time exploring stone monuments with children.

2026年8月29日(土)19時から開催される、いわき市南部の夏を彩る花火大会です。鮫川の河川敷から約2,000発の花火が次々と打ち上がり、静かな川面に光が映り込む様子も見どころのひとつです。出店のにぎわいの中、レジャーシートに座って見上げる花火は、夏の締めくくりにふさわしい光景です。開けた河川敷なので、家族連れでもゆったりと観覧できます。
Tips
荒天時は中止・順延となる場合があるため、当日の開催可否は主催者の発表で確認しましょう。終了後は周辺道路が混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでからの帰宅がおすすめです。足元が暗いので、スマホのライトがあると安心です。
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from the Nakoso Station shopping street. The park grounds have slopes and stairs, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Allow extra time to visit the museum to enjoy your visit fully.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. The view of the sea looks beautiful in the afternoon sunlight.
