About this spot

This multipurpose plaza spreads along the banks of the Abukuma River (阿武隈川). It becomes the fireworks venue every summer; during the day it bustles with events like ring-toss games and bingo tournaments, and at night powerful large shells light up the sky. On the day of the event, food stalls line the area, and a festive atmosphere spreads from the evening onward. After returning from the science museum, spread out a picnic sheet to secure a viewing spot while having dinner from the food stalls. As the sun sets and the sky's colors shift, it makes for a pleasant wait before the fireworks begin.

Tips

From the evening of the fireworks day onward, the surrounding roads get very congested. It's recommended to get your food early, before the stalls get crowded. Please take your trash home with you.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. It's best enjoyed around sunset, watching the sky's colors change.
