About this spot

This shopping street spreads out in front of JR/Shinano Railway Ueda Station (上田駅), the gateway to Ueda City. Along the street connecting Ueda Station with Santomyuze (サントミューゼ) and ARIO Ueda (アリオ上田), you'll find plenty of restaurants and lodging where you can enjoy a meal with a distinctly Ueda atmosphere. On the day of the fireworks festival, the area gets very crowded, so it's a good idea to have dinner early before heading to the Chikuma River riverbed.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from Yanagimachi (柳町). The area near the station also gets very crowded from the evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival. Walking to the venue area is recommended, and if driving, watch out for traffic congestion.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. Around 4 PM tends to be relatively calm for a meal
