Held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, this fireworks display is among the largest in scale in Shinshu. About 8,000 fireworks launch from the Chikuma River (千曲川) riverbed downstream of the Tokida Shinbashi bridge (常田新橋), with star mine fireworks of all sizes filling the night sky. It's an overwhelmingly grand finale, a fitting close to a day spent exploring the castle town associated with the Sanada clan. The way the sound echoes off the mountains surrounding the Ueda basin adds even more impact, another feature unique to this display.

Tips

The event may be canceled or postponed in case of severe weather, so check Ueda City's official announcement for whether it will proceed that day. The area around Ueda Station and the surrounding roads get extremely crowded afterward, so it's a good idea to leave with a bit of a time gap. It can get chilly at night, so don't forget something to wear over your clothes.
