About this spot

Saruga Shrine (猿賀神社) is one of the oldest shrines in the Tsugaru region, surrounded by Sarugako Park (猿賀公園). Beside the shrine grounds lies a large pond called Kagami-ga-ike (鏡ヶ池), where lotus flowers color the water's surface in summer. This nature-rich spot is also known for the swans that arrive in winter, and families can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the grounds and along the pond. It's a peaceful place where Tsugaru's faith and nature come together in harmony.

Tips

About a 15-minute walk from Konan Railway's Tsugaru-Oe Station (津軽尾上駅), or 5 minutes by car. Mosquitoes are common in summer, so bring insect repellent. It's about a 10-minute drive to the next stop, Seibien (盛美園).

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. The lotus flowers are in beautiful bloom from morning through midday.
