About this spot

As its name suggests, this white sand beach curves beautifully like a bow, and combined with its highly transparent water, it's known as one of Izu's finest scenic spots. It's also the very venue of the fireworks festival, and in summer it's bustling with many swimmers. In this time before evening, the sunlight softens, making for a pleasant stroll along the water's edge. Take in the atmosphere of the beach where tonight's fireworks will launch, while it's still daylight.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from the Shimogamo Onsen hot spring district (下賀茂温泉街). If walking barefoot, watch out for shells. Crowds increase further from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival, so a stroll during this time slot is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Later in the afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is a comfortable time to visit.
