These white sand dunes face the Sea of Japan. While not as large in scale as the Tottori Sand Dunes, the beautiful contrast between the dunes stretching to the water's edge and the blue Sea of Japan makes this a scenic spot beloved by locals. As evening approaches and temperatures begin to ease, it's a great time for the family to stroll and enjoy the feel of the sand underfoot. It's a spot to experience Hokuei Town's distinctive coastal scenery before heading to the festival venue.
Tips
The sand can be difficult to walk on, so sneakers are recommended over sandals. There is little shade on sunny days, so don't forget a hat and something to drink. After your walk, drive to the Odaiba Park Multipurpose Plaza, the festival venue.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. It gets cooler and easier to walk as evening approaches
