About this spot

This museum introduces 'nagashi-bina,' a traditional custom passed down in Mochigase-cho, Tottori City. In this practice, paper dolls are placed on straw rafts and set adrift on the river to pray for good health, and it continues today timed to the old-calendar Doll Festival. Inside, exhibits cover the history and tools of nagashi-bina, offering a quiet way to learn about this locally rooted culture. Stopping by before the fireworks lets you learn about the background of Mochigase before enjoying the night's display.

Within walking distance of Mochigase Station. The museum is compact, and you can see everything in about 30 minutes. During summer vacation, you may see parents and children visiting as part of school research projects.
