About this spot

Mochigase-cho has a history of thriving as a post town along the Inaba Kaido (因幡街道) during the Edo period. Old rows of houses that retain the atmosphere of that era still remain in parts of the town today, and simply strolling through gives you a sense of what it was like to be a traveler of the past. Walking while choosing the shade under the summer sun lets you feel the quiet passage of time in this mountain village. The Sendai River (千代川), where tonight's fireworks will light up the sky, flows just alongside this town.

Tips

Just a short walk from the Nagashibina-no-Yakata museum. Sunlight is strong during the day, so don't forget a hat and something to drink. It's about a 10-minute walk to the next stop, the Sendai River riverbank.
