Observing Rare Wetland Flora Blooming Crimson in Autumn
About this spot
A rare naturally occurring habitat of Akkeshi plants (Coral Plants) in the reclaimed lands of Yoshishima Town, found in only a few places nationwide. These annual herbs thrive in salt-rich wetlands and, as autumn deepens, transform into striking crimson red like coral—November's early season marks the peak viewing time. Boardwalks have been built throughout the habitat, making it possible to observe the wetland up close without damage. Known as one of Japan's few remaining wild habitats, this offers families a rare opportunity to enjoy nature's seasonal palette.
