A gateway station to Shimanto Town where both JR Shikoku's Yodo Line and Tosa Kuroshio Railway's Nakamura-Sukumo Line operate. Known as the starting point of Tosa Kuroshio Railway, the station building and platforms retain the charm of a quiet local railway, popular with railroad enthusiast children. An information desk is located in front of the station, making it convenient for gathering information about nearby sightseeing.
