About this spot
A museum that showcases the charm and history of Kuwana Ishidori Festival, Kuwana's signature traditional event. You can view the magnificent festival floats (yama-gashira) that are actually pulled during the festival up close and carefully observe the golden decorations and detailed carvings. The Ishidori Festival is a historic festival dating back to the Edo period, and is also known as "Japan's loudest festival" because of the constant ringing of taiko and kane throughout the city. Learning about the origins of the festival and the differences among the floats of each town through the museum's exhibits and videos will deepen your enjoyment of the evening's main event. It's the perfect spot for a preview before the festival.
Season & hours
Name:
Date & time: 8/1 (Sat)–8/2 (Sun) Time TBA
Venue:
Tips
Tips
You can access Kuwana Station by bus or on foot. It's best to check the opening days and hours in advance for peace of mind. The museum is not very large, so you can see everything in a short time.
Best time to visit
Plan for about 45 minutes. Since the festival day can get crowded, visiting in the morning to noon allows for a more leisurely experience.
