Young men carry a wooden float shaped like a whale—the 'Whale Ship'—parading it from the shrine grounds through the town with enthusiastic shouts of 'Ya-ray.' The festival honors the region's whaling heritage and expresses gratitude for abundant catches. In 2026, it takes place over two days—September 26 (Saturday) and 27 (Sunday). The unity of the carriers' energy and the crowd's cheers creates a spectacle representing Yokkaichi's autumn traditions.
