This museum conveys the wisdom of the people of Fukuchiyama, who have lived facing water disasters caused by repeated flooding of the Yura River. A traditional water-defense building called a 'mizuka' (literally 'water place')—constructed by building a higher mound of earth than the main house—is preserved and can be toured. This valuable facility allows visitors to learn about the ingenuity of living in coexistence with natural disasters. Visiting this museum alongside Fukuchiyama Castle deepens your understanding of the region's history.

福知山市の夏を代表するまつりで、2026年は8月14日(金)14時から20時まで、広小路通り一帯と福知山駅北口公園を会場に開催されます(8月25日には19時から21時まで別日程での開催も予定されています)。「ドッコイセ、ドッコイセ」という威勢のよい掛け声にあわせて、地元の踊り連や子どもたちが街いっぱいに踊りを繰り広げ、日中から夕方にかけて街全体がまつり一色に染まります。福知山城下町の歴史散策の締めくくりに、街を挙げた踊りの熱気を家族で体感しましょう。

Tips

当日は会場周辺で交通規制がかかるため、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。日中の開催となるため、日差し対策と水分補給を忘れずに。人出が多いため、はぐれないよう待ち合わせ場所を決めておくと安心です。
